How to get rid of annoying woodpecker?

I have a redheaded woodpecker banging on my metal smoke stack to my fireplace. I have put up a owl decoy, but it didn’t work, even though the exterminator said to try it!!! This bird is scaring my 1 yr old and driving the rest of us crazy.. I looked and all I saw was a few wasps near the smoke stack..and figured that’s why the woodpecker is near my fireplace smoke stack..A neighbor suggested a snake decoy although the owl decoy failed. Any ideas?
This has been a daily thing since Feb 09 from 7am-10am..
I live in a doublewide, so it’s not wood he’s after…I’m allergic to wasps and we’ve sprayed the nest several times!!

My house is in Plaistow, and problem for now is occurring in just one room. I was looking for some pest control pros but there is so many of them, maybe somebody have got already experience and could advice somebody.

Adding to what Golly said, wash your bedding on the highest possible temperature, including pillows and quilt (or replace) vaccum matress well (and continue to do this regularly) and spray with something like Raid and use the Raid round all the skirting boards too.

Getting rid of carpenter ants.?

I notice that I have a leak in my roof right by the stink pipe that is going outside from the bathroom. I went into the attic this morning and was checking to see if there was water that was sitting in the attic around it and when I moved the insulation by the pipe there were tons of big black ants, so I am thinking they were carpenter ants. The wood doesnt look like they have been eating at it, but what is the best way to get rid of them? I bought some ant killer this morning and doused that spot really good with it. Should I be concerned that they are all over in my attic or will they just be in that spot where the leak was? Should I have a exterminator come get rid of them, or since its almost winter will they just die off and I just wait til spring and see if they are back? I live in Michigan by the way. Thank you!

I use concentrated carpenter ant killer in liquid form. It comes in a small bottle only about 2 ounces from Home Depot or Lowe’s. You use a pump sprayer and add about a gallon of water to 1 ounce of concentrate in the sprayer.

I normally use it around baseboards and around the outside of the house, but I’ve used it in cupboards and cabinets as well wherever the carpenter ants are.

As to whether you use an exterminator, I guess that’s up to you based on cost .. but I’ve had success using the sprayer. I guess it depends how big a problem it turns out to be.
