I live in brooklyn and my roomate and I just found out we have bed bugs. It’s not a huge problem yet (we’ve only seen one, but we have a few bites) but we want to stop the bugs before they get worse. Drop the mouse, glue trap, and all in a bucket of water. It will be over in seconds. Throw everything in the trash when you are done. Keep trapping and putting them down. Its the only way to ensure they are gone. Do not use de-con type poisons, because when they die they go somewhere you cant reach, then rot inside your walls making your house smell like a horse-rendering factory.
Keep your house clean and not cluttered. Vacuum daily. Do all dishes daily. Keep all food products in plastic containers– cereal, flour, everything. If you have a pet you are going to have to ration its food, like put it out for an hour or two at a time then put it away.
If you do all this you will eventually get rid of the mice. The most important thing is to keep trapping and putting them down.

Gone are the days when removal of the old mattress is considered a buying perk.
