He’s ballistic if a man is inthe yard working. He willrun down the st. to get to the lawn guy.?

This dog was badly abused for his first 11 months. That’s when
I rescued him from being put down. We have bonded & he has
been obedience trained except for the sit when someone comes to the door. I had a trainer here 3x. He upsets me
greatly when he seems to want to get out & get a piece of
the pool guy. He attacked the lawn guy. He nipped the
exterminator. I thought I could get a dog whisperer but have
not be able to.

blow off the ‘abused’ stuff – dogs don’t focus on that like people always do… Regardless of what you want to believe, he is NOT trained at all if he won’t even sit when someone comes to the door — trained is a dog that will obey when YOU want it to, not when HE happens to want to do it. Having some trainer come to your house is useless – you obviously haven’t learned anything and you need to — you need to find a GOOD motivational obedience class where you can learn to better interact with and train the dog. Just about everything you say is erroneous – you haven’t bonded well or he would obey you; he isn’t obedience trained or he would obey you. You continue to allow him to be in the situation to bite people and that is YOUR problem, not his — You say he will ‘run down the st.’ meaning you are letting him run loose… no television pseudo-trainer personality will help you… only YOU learning what you are doing and actually training the dog will.

Baby spiders in the garage?

Just a few seconds ago, my mom say a bunch of baby spiders on the dryer in the garage. She and I are both VERY badly frightened by them (I’m almost too scared to go out there for some milk now) and I REALLY need an effective way to keep them out. I don’t know where the spiders came from; I might look tomorrow. Might.

But the problem is we cannot afford an exterminator. My mom got laid off the job and has yet to find one, despite applying for a few places. I’ve heard dried eucalyptus does the job but I’m worried about possums — I heard it attracted koalas and since the koala is also a marsupial, just like the possum, I’m afraid it would possibly attract them.

I heard also that dried orange peels work.

A little help?

uhh or u could just spray some insect killer/repelant on the spiders and around at the base of ur house, just try not to breath the stuff in, cause im guessing its pretty bad for u

besides i highly dout that any koalas will be attracted to ur house, since koalas live only in eastern australia, in the wild away from homes

10 Common Pests And What To Do When You See Them

Wherever you live, you are going to have to deal with bugs and other pests at some point. There are many simple deterrents that you can use to keep critters from taking up residence in your home, and then there are certainly ways to exterminate them as well.

Roaches
It does not matter how clean your home is you are very likely importing bugs into your home on a regular basis. Roaches hitch a ride into your home in grocery bags and cardboard boxes. These are their main vehicles, because roaches like glue and paper. Both of these places are also their preferred places for laying their eggs. Then you carry the bag or box into your home, place it in your cupboard, and when they hatch you have a crazy roach party. If you are inundated with roaches, then you may want to call a professional and start with a clean slate. If you just find a few roaches, you may want to try a commercial bait, bug spray or a homemade brew of one part boric acid, two parts flour and one part cocoa. Just sprinkle in the back of your cupboards and your roach problem should soon be a thing of the past. Make sure to keep this mixture away from pets and children, though, as it is toxic.

Moths
Moths are particularly annoying because they eat holes in your clothing. Dried lavender or cedar blocks are both natural deterrents, and mothballs work though they have a bit of a smell to them.

Termites
If you suspect that you have termites call an exterminator. They can cause untold damage to a home, so you can fiddle around and call the exterminator after more damage has been done, or you can call them right away to keep any more from happening. The choice is yours.

Ants
Ants in your home can be a real pain, and traps and bug spray work well. If you want to try a homemade deterrent though, use cinnamon or black pepper as a deterrent. Salt and talcum powder make a good deterrent as well. Ants are another bug that can move in and take over, so if you think you have an infestation, then you should have a professional rid your house of them, and then you can use the deterrents to keep any newcomers out.

Spiders
If you are afraid of spiders, then you will probably need to empty a can of bug spray on any spider that you see. However, hedge apples or Osage oranges, are supposed to repel most all insects. If you simply cut the fruit and leave it in a room, it will make all of the spiders move next door.

Aphids
Aphids usually appear on houseplants, and all you need to do to kill them is to spray them with soap. Make a mixture of cooking oil, Ivory dish soap and water and put it in a spray bottle. Then simply spray your plants. Rinse the oil off of the leaves about an hour after spraying.

Mouse
When you think that there is a mouse in your house, set a trap. When you set the trap do not use your hands, because the mouse will smell your scent. Then use a bacon bit, peanut butter or a gumdrop to bait the trap, and place the trap near a wall. If you have pets, put the trap where you will not catch your pet. Sticky or snap traps both work.

Raccoons
If you have raccoons raiding your garbage, simply put a little ammonia inside your trash bag when you place it outside.

Squirrels and Chipmunks
If you get a chipmunk or squirrel living in your chimney, just put a pan of ammonia in your firebox and open the chimney flue. Usually the fumes are enough to drive them away.

How much does an exterminator cost in nyc?

I live in brooklyn and my roomate and I just found out we have bed bugs. It’s not a huge problem yet (we’ve only seen one, but we have a few bites) but we want to stop the bugs before they get worse. We know we’re supposed to bag all laundry/fabrics in the house and wash them, but most things I’ve researched say that an exterminator is the only way to really get rid of the bugs.

Does anyone know how much this would cost us (small apartment: living room, bedroom, and small office/closet) in brooklyn/nyc area? Does anyone have any recommendations (of exterminators or an effective way to do it yourself?)

Thankyou!
I mean a rought estimate of what it might cost (doesn’t need to be an exact amount….).

Or, if anyone out there has hired exterminators for bedbugs, how much did it cost you?

Yes, no matter what action and preventative measures you take, it’s imperative to get an exterminator in there to finish the job. Also, you’re going to want to make sure you don’t just hire some random Joe off the street. Look for someone that is licensed, provides a guarantee, isn’t a huge money-hungry corporation and has many years experience.

I had the same problem a couple of months ago and it was such a hassle! When I started calling around… the estimates were ridiculous–some into the high thousands. I ultimately chose a company called Alliance Pest Mgmt in Staten Island. I dealt with a man by the name of Steven. The phone number is 718-606-2161 As far as I know, they service all 5 boroughs.

Also, if you’re renting, it’s your landlord’s responsibility to take care of that I believe.

What can I do about my slumlord? 10 pts?

I have lived with mice for 6 months, just woke up to find a mouse stuck to a sticky pad hubby put out. I have 3 young children and expecting my 4th in may. She brought an exterminator but it didnt work. I need help we cant afford to move or we would. We live in las vegas nv please im desperate. Oh and what do I do with the mouse on the sticky pad im scared of getting bit hubby doesnt get off work till 2:30 please help

Drop the mouse, glue trap, and all in a bucket of water. It will be over in seconds. Throw everything in the trash when you are done. Keep trapping and putting them down. Its the only way to ensure they are gone. Do not use de-con type poisons, because when they die they go somewhere you cant reach, then rot inside your walls making your house smell like a horse-rendering factory.

Keep your house clean and not cluttered. Vacuum daily. Do all dishes daily. Keep all food products in plastic containers– cereal, flour, everything. If you have a pet you are going to have to ration its food, like put it out for an hour or two at a time then put it away.

If you do all this you will eventually get rid of the mice. The most important thing is to keep trapping and putting them down.
