Bats invade Southwest Houston neighborhood
HOUSTON — Some families in southwest Houston say they’re not safe inside or outside their homes because they’ve been invaded by bats. Two weeks ago 13-year-old Davion Wagner says he woke up in the middle of the night and there was a bat in his room. “I was like shaking, ‘Oh my God,’” he said. The teen lives with his family in the 9000 block of Imogene near Beechnut and Gessner. “I want them to …

Is this a normal thing in Houston and or “The Greater Houston Area”?
Are roaches a normal thing in Houston/Texas? Someone told me that roaches are normal whether your house is spotless clean or dirty and even when you try to get rid of them with the exterminator they end up coming back, because of the weather in Houston/ Texas. Especially if you live near water. Is that true? Does the area you live in Houston or around Houston have any affect on whether you will have roaches or not even with a clean house? Also where in Houston or “The Greater Houston Area” are good places to live that do not normally have roaches? I know bugs in general are everywhere but are they normal in Houston/Texas even with a clean house? Please answer this seriously because I do not want to move to Houston or “The Greater Houston Area” if roaches normally come in to peoples houses whether it’s clean or not. P.S this person lives at “wood lake on the bayou” Thanks a lot for any help.
Woodlake on the Bayou is an apartment complex. Apartments in Houston are notorious for German Roach infestations. Your apartment may be clean but what about your neighbor? They are very difficult to eradicate from apartments and be a problem.
Then as another answered, there are the big tree roaches. In Florida they are called “palmetto bugs”. When it is very hot outside, they sometimes come indoors at night if they can but usually don’t hang around for long.
So, no, roaches are not a normal thing unless you live in a very high density residential area. The common home with regular exterminations does not have roach problems other than an occasional visit from a tree roach that gets in.
I live at the beach near Houston and don’t exterminate and am a lousy housekeeper. I have no roach problems. Black ants? Now that’s another story.
